Don is an accomplished, results oriented Business Process Improvement consultant with broad knowledge of the mortgage, banking, and financial services industries. He has a consistent record of success in utilizing six sigma and lean methodologies to develop solutions for clients who need to redesign their front and back office processes to address complex issues such as:

  • increasing sales and revenues
  • improving costs and productivity
  • enhancing customer experience
  • reducing operational risks related to regulatory compliance.

Don’s experience in the financial services industry spans a period of 25 years.  During the first 15 years he was responsible for leading internal consulting groups at some of the nation’s leading financial services firms to improve business performance and achieve operational excellence.  Over the last 10 years, Don has worked as an external consultant and has successfully completed engagements across a broad range of mortgage lenders: major (top 10) US banks, international banks, national mortgage lenders, regional banks, community banks, and credit unions.

Don brings to the Mortgage Bankers Consulting team the ability to leverage his combination of mortgage banking knowledge and lean/six sigma process engineering skills to quickly baseline the client’s current process environment, define future state requirements and develop a process transformation roadmap to successfully deliver the client’s desired results. As an example, Don has led consulting efforts to:

  • Eliminate the need for a 40 person staff increase by designing an automated solution to replace the existing, manual processes used to review loans for HMDA compliance
  • Review TRID compliance processes to identify which steps added value and which steps should be eliminated in order to increase productivity 25% and cycle times 10%
  • Optimize the utilization of existing marketing and sales channels to increase mortgage origination volumes 25% while keeping expenses and headcount flat
