Red Carter worked for national real estate firms for 8 years as a paralegal then underwriter. The firms were for-profit and not-for-profit and vertically integrated as project developers, leasing agents and managers of both commercial and residential real estate.
Beginning in the early 1990s, Red gained experience in the IRC Section 42, Section 202 and historic tax credit arenas. By 2000, she had worked as an originator and/or underwriter for Banc One Capital syndicated funds, Key Community Development Corp and National Affordable Housing Trust.
Since 2001, Red’s focus has been on credit, operations and risk management for community bank portfolios of residential, agriculture and commercial lines. This work has included loan underwriting, construction draw & appraisal reviews, initial dual risk rating of previously unrated portfolios, establishing loan review methodology, and conducting portfolio scrubs for technical exceptions and missing documentation. Risk admin experience involved the use of Excel modeling for ALLL migration analysis, loan portfolio data mining and creation of credit applications.
